Course Outline

This course covers listening, reading, writing, and speaking in roughly equal proportions. We will briefly introduce IELTS, the test format, question types, and scoring criteria. We will also assist you in expanding your topic-specific vocabulary by providing lists of academic words and common expressions used in the IELTS exam and teaching you test-taking strategies such as time management, guessing strategies, and approaching different question types. This course aspires to encourage you as a future proficient English communicator, with each lecture covering one of four IELTS sections with explanations, examples, exercises, mock tests, and expert feedback. Learning and authentic test materials are provided without extra charge. 

Teacher: Steffa holds two master’s degrees from the University of Warwick and the University of Birmingham and has 20 years of teaching experience in English and IELTS to middle school students, university students, and adults.

Target learners: Prospective Academic IELTS test takers with some knowledge of IELTS.

Course dates: Every Tuesday and Thursday for a month.

Lesson time: 12:00–14:00 BST (UK) or 19:00–21:00 CST (Macao).

Total hours: 20 hours (10 lessons).

Learning mode: Live online.

Medium of instruction: English (or a combination of English and Cantonese/Mandarin if requested).

Quota: 3–4 students.

Teaching Approach

This course consists of lectures, handouts, online resources, mock tests, discussions, role plays, and feedback. The approach to teaching seeks to encourage student learning, participation, and interaction.
